Where to this weekend, Vancouver Island: Stay on the Lookout for this Ten Foot Monster

On your way to East Sooke, it’s worth making the stop for a photo opp, a bite to eat or ice cream at the East Sooke General Store. You’ll find a large parking lot with a food truck, a small grocery store, a few picnic tables, and a 11-foot Sasquatch!

The sculpture was created by Paul Lewis, an artist in the neighbouring city of Langford. Lewis’s art is not new to us. We’ve seen his art before on a smaller scale. Cute animals, including hummingbirds, raccoons and bears, can be found at the Esquimalt Lagoon, a popular stop near Hatley Castle and Fort Rodd Hill in Colwood.

Lewis has built other sasquatches on private property but was eager to find a place where the public could meet and get a close-up look of one of the bigfoot masterpieces.
