For the record, Roastoreum is not a word – but it should be! The Stick in the Mud Coffee House and Specialty Roaster brings in Arabica beans from all over the world, focusing on specialty grade or higher. As if the flavour notes of their quality beans aren’t enough for a visit, the staff is sure to bring you around. The Stick always has the most charming, friendly and highly-skilled folks to welcome you for your first (or third) cup of java for the day!

Located in the hub of Sooke’s shopping district, sneak around the corner at Otter Point and Eustace Road, and you’ll find a covered outdoor terrace leading you straight into the coffee house. Parking abounds, so bring your friends and save a little room for yummy fresh-baked treats, the famous egg-a-majig, or stay for lunch offerings, including sandwiches on homemade focaccia!

If you fall in love with their custom blends, be sure to take home a bag! The Roastoreum is right next door so you’ll always be able to snag your favourite to brew at home. Pro Tip: the Tsunami Blend is a Bucket List favourite! The Roastery also offers wholesale opportunities and white-label coffee for businesses looking for great gift ideas. Contact David at 778-352-0077 for more information.

The Stick has gluten-free and dairy-free options that are sure to please, and if tea is your bag – you’re covered there too with a nice variety of loose-leaf and bagged selections. And yep, for those warmer days, they’ve got the Cold Brew waiting for you too!

In a word? Charm. Charm is what’s waiting for you at the Stick. It was born out of a desire to find just the right “hit-the-spot” treats by the owner, David. He immediately got to work finding a primo baker and designing recipes we could all fall in love with. The “Treat Lab” was created, and it’s been hopping with bakers 7 days a week, ever since.

The west coast charm and wood interior just makes you want to take a deep breath and shrug off the worries of the day. In the summer, you might even catch a little live music on the terrace. This is one of our favourite spots to enjoy a little conversation with friends after a hike in the beautiful Sooke area. A true gem, don’t miss it!
