VANCOUVER ISLAND BUCKET LIST - Where to Next?
Nestled in the eastern part of Juan de Fuca Provincial Park, the China Beach Campground offers a tranquil forested retreat about 1km east of the China Beach day-use area. This vehicle-accessible campground, surrounded by a forest with an open understory, provides a serene setting for campers.
The campground operates mainly from May to September. Facilities include campfire rings at each site, and while fires are permitted, conservation of the environment is encouraged. Firewood is available for purchase on-site, though collecting wood from around the campsite is prohibited.
Additionally, water taps are available exclusively in the campground, adding to the convenience for campers. Trails from the campground lead directly to China Beach and the smaller Second Beach, offering access to the shoreline and nature walks. The hike from the forest to the beach is wonderful but be prepared for stairs.
Even though China Beach Campground does not have many amenities, the campground is very popular in summertime due to its private sites and access to the beach and local hiking trails. It is highly recommended that you book well in advance.
