Our Personal Experiences On A Victoria Walking Food Tour

What do you get six ladies looking for an afternoon of fun? A Victoria food tour with Andy from A Taste of Victoria Food Tours. I really need to hand it to Andy, not only was the tour a fantastic compilation of what Victoria has to offer but we threw him a couple of curveballs that he handled like a champ.

What is a food tour anyway? My SIL handled the booking so I went in blind, I didn’t know if the food would travel to us or we to it. Turns out it’s the latter thankfully, and it’s so much more than food. Andy has been a happy customer of the Victoria downtown food scene for years and decided he could turn this love of cuisine into a career.

During a Victoria walking tour, five women posing with smiles on a sunny day at a harbour, with the picturesque Victoria Parliament Buildings and moored sailboats in the background.

He took us to some of his favourite locally owned spots, to enjoy small versions of his favourite dishes, and in between each plate is a walking tour where it was great to learn about not only the food and what makes the local vendors so endearing but about the actual city you’re walking through. Victoria is an impressively walkable city, so this is an excellent option if you want to explore and eat while learning a little bit of history.

The curveball you may ask? We may have neglected to inform Andy of some food restrictions within our fun-loving group. But he only greeted us with a smile, committed it all to memory and served up multiple substitutions along the way. Did I mention he’s a champ? He totally had it under control and we had a fantastic time that we continued to bring up and reminisce about the entire trip.

Is A Victoria Guided Tour Worth It?

With so many Victoria walking tour options, it might be hard to decide. Whether you want to explore Victoria on your own or take a tour.  The answer is both. With an expert guide, you can get much more out of a professional walking tour than you could on your own. I recommend taking a guided tour early in your visit to Victoria, as they will give you great recommendations and tips to enjoy the rest of your stay.
