The Ale trail might not be the most appropriate term as we also have a distillery and a winery added to our list – but if you are looking for a way to explore Sooke while visiting with family and friends, the local craft beer scene is strong with three brewing companies in the Sooke area. A honey meadery round sout the tour and give you a wonderful reason to taste test your way around the entire Sooke district!
Each location offers a unique experience – explore our list and map with locations and descriptions of what you can expect to truly have a memorable day at all four stops.

A family-run brewery, Bad Dog Brewing was started by Jon, a humble home-brewer in a woodworking shop just outside of Sooke. After years of testing and forming his recipes, Jon’s beers were well received by his beer-making colleagues. A renovation transformed that simple woodshed into what is now the Bad Dog Brewing Company in 2017. Located just off of Otter Point road and a quick trip down a gravel road, you might mistake it for a private acreage, but never fear; park and walk up the drive to enjoy the most relaxed beer garden on the tour with cozy picnic tables, charming lights and some pretty fantastic craft beer.
Patio: | Covered and heated patio for the cooler days but sticking with the acreage theme, there’s a great picnic area in the trees to enjoy your food and beer. |
